Call for Student Proposals: AFRO FUTURISM CONFERENCE

April 02, 2015

Website: http://afrofuturismtns.com/
The Afrofuturism Conference is designed to celebrate, not just the
works of known afrofuturist, but the works people are creating right
here on campus and beyond. Student artwork, music, visual
performances, scholarly pieces, and theoretical papers could be
showcased during our three day conference at the New School and at
MoCADA, May 1-3rd, 2015. We are SUPER excited to see what you have to
show!

About the conference: In lieu of student organizing around the black
live matter cause, which began last fall, student organizations
Project Africa and SOAD joined forces and are collaborating on a
conference designing new narratives to empower the African diaspora.
The student-led conference will be an exploratory look at the
emancipatory power of Afrofuturism as a cultural aesthetic.

The Students: We students work hard to be in these academic spaces at
the New School, so lets build upon what we have created by showcasing
our work for peers, professionals, and afrofuturism enthusiast. Check
out the attached presentation for further details.
