The Graduate Student Caucus of the African Literature Association (GSCALA) invites you to submit an abstract for the upcoming 40th Annual Conference of the African Literature Association (ALA), to be held April 9-13, 2014, at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference theme this year is Texts, Modes and Repertoires of Living In and Beyond the Shadows of Apartheid. However, papers on all other aspects of African literature, art, and film are also welcome. Confirmed keynote speakers include Simon Gikandi (Robert Schirmer Professor of English, Princeton University) and Njabulo Ndebele (Novelist and Andrew W. Mellon Fellow, Archive and Public Culture, University of Cape Town).
