Open Position: Lecturer at UNC

The Department of African, African American, and Diaspora Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer, for a fixed term of two years.

The Department is seeking candidates who have experience teaching Wolof language in addition to courses focusing on any or a combination of the following themes: African film; African literature; West African art; gender studies; Islam and socio-political processes in West Africa; Senegalese culture and society. The preferred candidate should also be able teach an introductory class in African Studies. Faculty members at the rank of Lecturer in the Department teach six undergraduate courses per academic year (3-3). The successful candidate will assume responsibilities on July 1, 2016.
