CU-Alliance Visiting Professorship Applications

Columbia University, the Ecole Polytechnique, Sciences Po and Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne have expanded their long-term academic collaboration to include a semester-long program of faculty exchange. The faculty exchange is intended to foster transatlantic linkages among the faculty and to increase the range of educational experiences available to students at the participating institutions.

Information about the Alliance, as well as the Call for Applications can be found at [http://alliance.columbia.edu/call-visiting-professors]. Three Alliance Visiting Professorships will be offered to full-time Columbia faculty members in 2017-18.

· École Polytechnique: One full-time officer of instruction of professorial rank will be selected to spend one semester as a visiting professor at École Polytechnique.

· Sciences Po: One full-time officer of instruction of professorial rank will be selected to spend one semester as a visiting professor at Sciences Po.

· Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne: One full-time officer of instruction of professorial rank will be selected to spend one semester as a visiting professor at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.

All Alliance visiting professors are required to teach one full course (14 x 2-hour sessions in one semester) in English at the host university. They are also expected to give two academic lectures or seminar presentations, and to attend two dinners or public events hosted by the Alliance Program. Visiting professors receive a salary from the host institution to help cover travel, visa and living expenses incurred while teaching at the host institution.

Full-time faculty members wishing to be considered for a 2017-18 visiting professorship should submit (1) a CV, (2) a one-page statement outlining how the exchange opportunity would benefit their research and teaching interests, the semester in which they would like to visit (Fall or Spring) and the course (s) that they would propose to teach at the host institution, and (3) a short letter of support from the home Department Chair.

Alliance short term visiting opportunities (between one week and one month) for Columbia University Faculty members are available at Panthéon-Sorbonne University during the academic year 2016-2017. The visit shall take place between October 1st 2016 and April 30th 2017. These visiting positions are open to Columbia full-time officers of instruction of professorial rank, who work in disciplines and fields relevant to Panthéon-Sorbonne University. The visiting professor will instruct a course of 2.5 hours per week and give one public lecture. The course and lecture can be given in English or in French.
