The 10th Annual Greater New York Area African History Workshop brings together scholars working on Africa and the African Diaspora in the Northeast United States. It serves as an inviting space where faculty members and students can meet in a small, intellectually rigorous, and collegial setting. This year's theme is "Africa and the World." We invite papers on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to: Africa and its Diasporas; Gender and Sexuality; Spiritual Innovation; Nationalism and State-building; and Ideas of Economic Development. The conference will be held on April 8th at Drexel University in Philadelphia. It is being co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Africana Studies Program at Drexel University and the Department of Africana Studies and the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
