Study Abroad: Columbia-Approved Program Types

September 11, 2023
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
America/New_York
Uris Hall, 3022 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 8th Floor Conference Room

Interested in studying abroad on a Columbia-Approved program but not sure where to start? Attend this Group Advising session to learn more about the different program types avaliable to you. We will review the differences between the three program types: 1. Direct Enrollment, 2. Field-Based, and 3. Study Centres.

1. Direct Enrollment: These programs are run at a local host institution. You will have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of course offerings and connect with local students. Program highlights include: CIEE South Africa at the University of Cape Town (UCT), CIEE Korea at Yonsei University, and Bogazici University as an exchange partner.
2. Field-Based: These programs emphasize the need to take learning outside of the classroom. Dive deep into a current global issue that is aimed at improving cross-cultural understanding and challenging old beliefs. Program highlights include: SFS Costa Rica, SIT Argentina: Social Movements and Human Rights, and SIT Tunisia: Politics and Religious Integration in the Mediterranean.
3. Study Centres: These programs offer a blend of hands-on learning opportunities while specializing in specific course offerings. Program highlights include: College Year in Athens (CYA), DIS Stockholm, and AIT-Budapest.

Join us on Monday, September 11th, at 12:00 PM, for a hybrid session; attend either via Zoom or at the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement (8th Floor, Uris Hall) to learn more about narrowing down your study abroad options!
