Healing Across Continents: Making African Immigrant Mental Health Matter in New York
—REGISTRATION CLOSES 24hrs PRIOR—
BCRW Conference Room, 614 Milstein Center
This panel explores the often overlooked mental health experiences of African immigrants in New York City, highlighting the unique challenges at the intersection of being African, immigrant, Black, and part of this urban landscape. Without homogenizing this diverse population, the conversation offers a current portrait of mental health realities through the lens of clinicians and advocates who serve these communities. It will examine whether existing mental health systems—training, infrastructure, and policies—are truly equipped to meet their needs in culturally sensitive and accessible ways. Centering the voices of care providers, the discussion will explore barriers, evolving needs, and the policy shifts required to create a more inclusive and responsive mental health landscape for African immigrants.
